Dixie Lee

Dixie Lee (November 4, 1911 – November 1, 1952) was an American actress, dancer, and singer. Born Wilma Wyatt, she adopted the professional name "Dixie Carroll" as a singer and showgirl. Winfield Sheehan of the Fox film studio changed the name to Dixie Lee, to avoid confusion with actresses Nancy Carroll and Sue Carol. She married Bing Crosby at the age of 18, and had four sons with him, two of whom, Lindsay and Dennis, would eventually commit suicide as adults.

Lilian Bond

Lilian Bond (18 January 1908 – 25 January 1991) was a British film actress of the late 1920s to the 1940s, with most of her films being B-films. Bond was born in London and made her first public appearance at the age of fourteen when she was in the pantomime, Dick Whittington. Later she joined the chorus of Piccadilly Revels and continued on the stage when she went to America. She began her film career in the 1929 film No More Children. Between 1929 and 1931 she starred in nine films, most notably the 1931 western Rider of the Plains opposite Tom Tyler. In 1932 she was named a WAMPAS Baby Star, alongside future Hollywood legends Gloria Stuart and Ginger Rogers. She retired from acting at the age of 50 in 1958.

Ruth Eddings

Ruth Etting (November 23, 1897 – September 24, 1978) was an American singing star and actress of the 1920s and 1930s, who had over 60 hit recordings and worked in stage, radio, and film. She is known as "America's sweetheart of song". Her signature tunes were "Shine On, Harvest Moon", "Ten Cents a Dance" and "Love Me or Leave Me". Her other popular recordings included "Button Up Your Overcoat", "Mean to Me", "Exactly Like You" and "Shaking the Blues Away". Ruth Etting was born in David City, Nebraska in 1897 to Alfred and Winifred (née Kleinhan) Etting. On her mother's death when she was five years old, she went to live with her paternal grandparents, George and Hannah Etting. Alfred Etting remarried and moved away from David City and largely out of his daughter's life.

Conchita Montenegro

Conchita Montenegro (San Sebastian, September 11, 1912 – Madrid, April 22, 2007) was a Spanish model, dancer, stage and screen actress. She was educated in a convent in Madrid, Spain. Her sister, Juanita Montenegro, was also an actress. Montenegro first worked professionally as a model for the famous painter Ignacio Zuloaga y Zabaleta. During her childhood she learnt classical and Spanish dance. She was credited with revolutionizing the presentation of Spanish dances. Montenegro turned from dancing to dramatic acting and starred in numerous productions. She attained theatrical fame in Hollywood, France, and Germany by the time she was thirteen years old. At the age of sixteen, she starred in the French film La Femme et le Pantin (1928), directed by Jacques de Baroncelli.

Myrna Loy

Myrna Loy (August 2, 1905 – December 14, 1993) was an American actress. Trained as a dancer, she devoted herself fully to an acting career following a few minor roles in silent films. She was originally typecast in exotic roles, often as a vamp or a woman of Asian descent, but her career prospects improved following her portrayal of Nora Charles in The Thin Man (1934). Loy was born Myrna Adele Williams in Helena, Montana, to Adelle Mae (née Johnson) and rancher David Franklin Williams, in nearby Radersburg. Her paternal grandparents were natives of Wales, and her maternal grandparents were Swedish and Scottish. Her first name came from a train station whose name her father liked. Her father was also a banker and real estate developer and the youngest man ever elected to the Montana state legislature. Her mother studied music at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago.

Wynne Gibson

Wynne Gibson (July 3, 1905 – May 15, 1987) was an American actress of the 1930s. Early in her career she had a small part in a film but had no special interest in appearing before the camera. It was the stage that interested her and she began her stage career in chorus and was soon playing leads. She toured Europe then returned to America and tried for a dramatic part but failed and returned to musical comedy.
